Abstract
Sermon notes by Edward Hitchcock for a sermon delivered at Amherst College in March 1834 and again in April 1840. The notes outline ideas about Christians reflecting on their character before conversion. He lists a few brief descriptions of the character of unconverted sinners, and then lists two inferences that can be drawn from this information, saying that by reflecting upon one's own prior unconverted state will make one more likely to treat sinners tenderly and work for their salvation. Isaiah 51:1 is quoted.
