Abstract
Sermon notes by Edward Hitchcock for a Fast Day noting that the object of the day is to raise the standard of Christian piety, but Hitchcock claims they have failed and the result is displeasing to God. He says Christians will likely be discouraged by this view, but he hopes that discouragement leads them to a great revival of religion. Hitchcock has noted the date he preached this sermon on the final page.
