Amherst College Digital Collections

Amherst College Digital Collections (ACDC) is the result of collaboration between the Robert Frost Library and Information Technology Services. This repository holds over one hundred thousand digitized art works, photographs, manuscripts, books, and other media from the Archives & Special Collections and the library's Art & Architecture Collection. Technical information about this Fedora-based system is available on the Information Technology Services wiki.

Many departments at Amherst College make ACDC possible. Archives & Special Collections, the Digital Programs Department, Technical Services, and Information Technology Services all play a role in identifying materials for digitization, imaging materials, providing metadata, and uploading materials into ACDC. The Digital Programs Department website includes more information about our metadata and digitization practices.

ACDC continues to grow. A great deal of additional content is being added to the system on an ongoing basis, including archival collections, oral histories, and materials from other departments on campus. Plans for further development include creating data visualization, geographic, and timeline-based interfaces.
