The transcription is part of the collection of transcriptions of Dickinson's poems produced by Mabel Loomis Todd for publication in a volume edited by her. Most transcriptions are in Todd’s own hand; some are typed, and some were transcribed by other individuals. Notations are written on the transcript. On the reverse side is a penciled drawing of a seated Japanese woman in a kimono playing a koto. A dated notation in the bottom right of the drawing states, "sketch (1896) by M.L.T." The initials refer to Mabel Loomis Todd. One of the small drawings on an inside page appears to be titled "Devels [sic] Den and Ledge." The other drawings are of sailboats, farmhouse landscapes and a uniformed man riding a horse and waving his hat. It is unclear which of the Nelson brothers created the drawings. The scene also includes a view out the window of mountains in the distance. The piece is unattributed but captures their shared interest in trains, bridges, railroads, ships and waterways is carefully rendered. On the verso are some addition problems written in pencil.
