A manuscript copy of the terms of indenture of Justin Hitchcock (Edward Hitchcock's father) transcribed by Edward Hitchcock, Jr. The document establishes the terms under which Justin Hitchcock would apprentice with Moses Church to learn the art of hat making. The original document, created in 1766, was signed by Moses Church, Justin Hitchcock, Luke Hitchcock (Justin Hitchcock's father), Eliphalet Hall and Medad Sandersen.

A typescript transcript of pages 353 and part of 354 of volume 7 of "Proceedings of the Boston Society of Natural History" published in 1861. The proceedings summarize Edward Hitchcock's presentation at the conference about distorted pebbles found in Newport, Wallingford, and Plymouth, Vermont. The identity of the transcriber is unknown.

A typescript transcript of Hitchcock's "Exegesis of I Corinthians" that was published in the journal Bibliotheca Sacra in April 1860. Hitchcock's piece involves a close reading of verses 35 through 44 in I Corinthians, especially focusing on it from the view of natural history and chemistry. Letter to Charissa Hitchcock concerning the gift of a gown and her reply, manuscript copy

Swett, Charissa Hitchcock, 1781-1855

A manuscript copy by an unknown transcriber of a note to Charissa Hitchcock (sister of Edward Hitchcock) from residents of the town of Deerfield that accompanied the gift of a gown, presumably around the time of her marriage and departure from Deerfield. Those who presented Charissa with the gown were Ep. Sheldon, Christopher T. Arms, Joseph Stebbins, Jr., Sam. Clesson, John Hawks, John Dwight, and Rhodolphus Dickinson. Charissa Hitchcock's reply is also transcribed, in which she thanks the men for the gift and wishes them prosperity and happiness. Writing at the top of the document indicates it is a copy of a manuscript in Memorial Hall, Deerfield, Massachusetts.

A typescript copy by an unknown creator of diary entries written by Justin Hitchcock (Edward Hitchcock's father) between 1773 and 1799. In the entries, Hitchcock describes his move to Deerfield, Massachusetts, some of the goings-on in Deerfield at the time, joining the Company of Minute Men there, building his house in Deerfield, and other personal events of his life. He mentions apple trees being destroyed by canker worms several times.

A manuscript copy of a letter from Justin Hitchcock (Edward Hitchcock's father) to David and Silence Hoyt asking for their consent for him to proceed with his relationship with their daughter Mercy Hoyt, whom he married in 1779. The transcript of the letter is incomplete and the identity of the creator of this manuscript copy is unknown.

Hitchcock, Orra White, 1796-1863

A handwritten transcription of the poem "Disappointment" written by Orra White [Hitchcock]. It is noted at the top of the page that the poem was published in the Hampshire Gazette, March 4, 1818. The poem is simply signed "O." The final page indicates the transcription was "copied by J.S. Hitchcock, April 7, 1897."

Wordsworth, William, 1770-1850

A copy of William Wordsworth's poem "She dwelt among the untrodden ways" transcribed by Wordsworth for a "Lady Bell." Wordsworth has signed his name and noted in the bottom left of the sheet that he wrote this transcription on Hanover Terrace. The poem was originally published in the 1800 edition of "Lyrical Ballads."
