    Alison, Charles, 1810-1872

    Charles Alison letter to an unidentified recipient in which Alison writes that he has instructed Mr. Glen to visit Ooromiah (Urmia) to inquire into the grievances of the Nestorian Christians. He also notes that Perkins (Justin Perkins) is "carrying out the views of Her Majesty's Government for their removal." He offers donations from himself and Mrs. Alison (Elizabeth Sarell Alison) to the subscription fund being raised for the sufferers and notes that he is leaving the money at Her Majesty's Consulate. The letter is signed "Alison" with no first name. It has been determined that Alison stands for Charles Alison.
