Justin Perkins letter presumably to Ebenezer Burgess in which Perkins responds to Burgess and attempts to convince Burgess to join him in Persia as a missionary, specifically as a missionary to the "Mohammedans" (Muslims) in Tabreez (Tabriz). He mentions that Mr. Merrick is proposing to the Board that they send a missionary to Tabreez and explains that the German missionaries had been there but were recalled by their Society. Perkins notes that it is comparably easy to find men to go to South Eastern Asia versus finding someone to go into Persia. He goes on to write about how he tries to report on the Nestorian mission with accuracy but also with acknowledgement of the good the mission receives.

Eben. (Ebenezer) Burgess letter to Justin Perkins in which Burgess writes regarding their journey to Ahmednuggar (Ahmadnagar), the Mission and its schools, and his current status. He discusses the prejudices of the people towards missionaries, writes of the excitement caused by the conversion of two Brahman, and discusses the effects of local governments on missions. He also writes of British expansion and current political tensions between China and England. Burgess updates Perkins on matters in America, mentioning the Presbyterian Church, the Jackson party, the "good old ship" Constitution, and the antislavery party. He also comments on Brother Merrick's marriage and Professor Tyler's engagement. On the last page of the letter, Mary Burgess addresses Charlotte Bass Perkins and Jerusha Stocking, writing of the daily life of the missionaries and their families at her station. She mentions Miss Farrar, Mr. and Mrs. French, Mr. Abbot, Mr. Ballentine, and Mr. Webster.

(Ebenezer) Burgess letter to Justin Perkins in which Burgess begins by writing on December 12, 1836 regarding his expectations for his missionary appointment and the recent tours of Mr. Arms on islands in Southeast Asia, mentioning Borneo and Sumatra. He writes further on January 1 and 2, 1837 regarding his recent missionary appointment to the "Indian archipelago" and his companion for life Miss Grant (Mary Grant Burgess). He remarks on the missionary spirit at Andover Theological Seminary and updates Perkins on changes at Amherst College. Burgess also writes of faith and spirituality. Mr Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. Stoddard, Mrs. Perkins, Mr. Tyler, Mr. Fiske, Professor Park, Dr. Skinner, and Mr. Anderson are all mentioned in the letter.
