    Cooke, Harriet B., 1786?-

    H.B. Cooke (Harriet B. Cooke) letter presumably to Justin and Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Cooke writes of someone dying of cholera (Harriette Briggs Stoddard) and of reports of cholera in the United States. She also writes regarding the excitement respecting the gold of California, improvements in transportation infrastructure such as the railroad and a planned canal, and the relative lack of advance in religion. She goes on to discuss Christian spirit, their new pastor, the Nestorian Mission and its schools, Middlebury College, aging, and the current status of many named individuals. Throughout, she discusses faith and Christian ideals.
