She wonders over the enjoyment and suffering of living and remarks on the trials of Perkins. She goes on to discuss the health of Mrs. Perkins (Charlotte Bass Perkins) per Dr. Tyler. Throughout the letter, she writes of the Christian God and faith. She mentions multiple individuals including Miss Fisk (Fidelia Fiske), Mary Cochran, Dr. Wilkes, Mr. Rice, Mary Barbee, Miss Lyman, and Perkins' children Henry and Judith.
