J. P. Riach letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Riach writes that they should on not postpone setting out to meet Mar Shimon on account of Riach's non-arrival as he may not be able to go. He notes the letter with an extract to Mr. Merrick from a letter from their Elchee about the plan for proposing a school at Tehran. He mentions members of the men's family and mission, including Perkins' sons William and Henry. He writes that he sends a letter from Taliatine and writes regarding Taliatine, Malek Kassim Meerza, and their school.

W. G. Schauffler letter to Asahel Grant and Justin Perkins in which Schauffler acknowledges the receipt of their letters and says he is at the moment too unwell to write and Mrs. S. is too busy. He mentions that someone and his family are staying with them until their house is disinfected of the plague. He discusses his own health and briefly notes their trials by the plague and persecution against their schools.

Fr. Edw. Schneider letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Schneider says he has read their letters to Haas and Hoernle with interest and expresses how often he remembers them. He says that it seems providence does not allow them to labour together in the same land but being united in the Lord they will work for the same glorious concern. He remarks on the alleviation of his neck pains, thanks Grant for his kind advice, and writes about the proposed remedy. He references an enclosed letter for their cook Stephan from his sister, says he will write to them from India if he can, and sends his regards to multiple individuals. The enclosure noted no longer accompanies this item.

H.G.O. Dwight letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Dwight responds to letters received from them both. He writes regarding the death of his wife (Elizabeth Barker Dwight) and son, John White, from plague. He expresses his faith in the mercy of God, and he writes of his blessings and God's providence. Dwight notes that he is still in quarantine but hopes to remove to Pera this week.

H.G.O. Dwight letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Dwight thanks both of them for their sympathising letters. He says that he is now nearly settled in Mr. (William) Goodell's family and is getting back into the regular duties of the mission again. He writes of his loneliness after the loss of his wife and with his family scattered, noting that only his son Charles is with him now. Dwight discusses his faith in God and his blessings, including that his two other boys are provided for in Broosa (Bursa). He remarks on the (Syriac) type Perkins wrote about and Grant's inquiries regarding postage charges.

Dwight letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Dwight responds to communications from Perkins and Grant and says that he will attend to their directions in regard to the Syriac Scriptures and he will translate their letter to someone with an illegible name. He writes that he will also attend to Grant's requests. Dwight comments on information provided by Grant and Perkins, discussing the Nestorian people and the missionaries' plans. He also shares news of his own mission, its schools, and other missionaries, mentioning Mr. Goodell and Mr. Schneider. Dwight notes that a reverend from Boston is there after wearing himself out pleading for the temperance cause.

Thomas P. Johnston letter to Justin Perkins in which Johnston references his return to Trebizond (Trabzon) and mentions he has had no news about Perkins' departure from Erzroom for Oormia and notes his concern for Perkins' safe arrival. Johnston also expresses concern for the critical state of Dr. Grant's family. Johnston references the increase of missionaries and shares an Armenian priest's opinion that "God has now cast his eye upon this part of the world." Johnston reminds Perkins and his colleagues to communicate frequently and mentions Merrick (James Lyman Merrick) and Southgate and predicts a "very refreshing season" for Perkins' missionary station if health and lives are spared and hopes Merrick's courage would be renewed during his stay at Oormiah and mentions Mar Yohanna (Mar Yohannan).

H.G.O. Dwight letter to Asahel Grant in which Dwight responds to letters from Grant, congratulates him on the birth of his son, and provides his opinions on Grant's proposed visit to the mountain Nestorians. He says that Grant should not feel any haste to go and should place little confidence in a promise of any Kurdish Pasha. He also asks why it is necessary for Brother (Justin) Perkins to go with him and suggests alternatives. Dwight mentions Brother (James Lyman) Merrick, Mr. Barker, and the American Bible Society and provides a copy of a bill for the Syriac Bibles.

Malek Kassem Mirza (Malik Qāsim Mīrzā) letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant thanking them for the supply of school books in English and says they are pleased with the kind offer of further supplies of books in English from America. Mirza also thanks Grant for his contributions to "the Encyclopedia," which he hopes was been written in English rather than French noting the former will be met with better acceptance.

H.G.O. Dwight letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Dwight lists the items he has enclosed for them in a box for Mr. Haas. He mentions the death of Mrs. Smith and the arrival of the Schaufflers who recently suffered the loss of their two children. Dwight writes of an outbreak of the plague and of frequent society with others. He also writes regarding accounts and bills. In the letter, Dwight mentions Mr. Smith, Mr. Temple, Mr. Adger, Mr. Southgate, Mr. Calhoun, the American Bible Society, and Mr. Hill.
