Thompson letter to Justin Perkins in which Thompson invites Mr. and Mrs. Perkins and the Bishop to come to his house and keep Sabbath with them. He remarks on Perkins' success as a missionary among the Nestorians. He says their number of students (at the Theological Institute of Connecticut) is small and they hold slender inducements for Perkins, but he trusts Perkins' visit would have profit to the interests of Christ's Kingdom. He says that he occupied the time allotted to the Mon. Con. (monthly concert) chiefly with an account of the revival. He goes on to write about the Anniversary of their Institute (the Theological Institute of Connecticut), interest in the cause of Missions amongst the young men, the Anniversary at Andover (Theological Seminary), updates regarding that school and several alumni of it, Dr. Bushnell's book on Christian Nature and the "Argument" on the same, and the financial prosperity of Amherst College. Brother Hooker, Mr. Rood, Dr. Wood, Prof. Park, Dr. Anderson, the Society of Inquiry, Mills & Parsons, candidates for the Professorship of Sacred Rhetoric, Dr. Porter, and Prof. Fiske are all mentioned in the letter.
