He writes about changes in the Turkish Ministry, mentioning Ahmed Pasha, Tahir Pasha, Vassoff Effendi (the Sultan's secretary), and Temir Pasha. He also shares news of the poor health of the King of England, who will be succeeded by Princess Victoria. He remarks on the failures of America causing others in England. Zohrab notes festivities in England and France and writes about the weather and its effects on the plague in Constantinople and Trebizond. He also mentions cholera at Malta and Sicily and briefly remarks on the conflict between the Circassians and Russians. He responds to news of the progress of Perkins' work and remarks on the good example of Malek Kassim Mirza and the policy of Russia to keep people in ignorance. He also responds to Perkins' inquiries about mail. Zohrab writes about the Russians seizing an English vessel in the Black Sea and says he hopes the English do not acknowledge the Russian blockade. He asks Perkins to send him Mr. Eli Smith's Journey through Armenia. He also briefly mentions Mr. Brant and Mr. Abbott.
