P. O. (Philander O.) Powers letter to Justin Perkins in which Philander responds to a letter from Justin regarding the Nestorian Mission. He goes on to discuss his own mission, writing regarding two teachers from the Armenian school, the (Schneiders') experiments to determine if it was practicable to start a girls' school among the Greeks, and opposition to their mission by the Ar. (presumably Armenian) bishop. Philander also congratulates Justin on the birth of his boy. Following Philander's portion, H. G. (Harriet G.) Powers writes to Charlotte Bass Perkins, responding to news of the birth of the Perkinses' child and sharing news regarding others' pregnancies. She asks after Charlotte, remarks on Mr. Merrick going on his way, responds to the request from Mrs. Grant that she write, and shares news from Phillipston (Massachusetts).

Benjamin Schneider letter to Justin Perkins in which Schneider expresses his faith in God that all of his family's trials are for their highest good. He shares that they were preserved from the plague but his wife became ill with typhus fever immediately after they were permitted to return to their house. He writes about her illness and how they thought she would die, mentioning the assistance of Sister Powers and Dr. Zohrab. Schneider adds that their house was broken into by robbers twice and discusses the events.

E.C.A. Schneider letter to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Schneider writes regarding her journey to Broosa (Bursa) and situation there. She describes their home and makes several negative remarks regarding the Turkish people. She writes of Sabbath practices and mentions Mr. Powers, Harriet (Powers), Mrs. Stone of the Bombay Mission, Mrs. and Mr. Goodell, and Mrs. Johnson. Schneider also mentions receiving letters from Miss Fisher, Miss Caldwell, and Miss Grant and shares news regarding multiple named former schoolmates (from Ipswich Female Seminary). She goes on to write regarding the fighting times in America between the "Colonizationists & Antis." She also mentions the journey of Adeline White.

P. O. (Philander O.) Powers letter to Justin Perkins in which Philander writes regarding local opposition to the mission in Broosa (Bursa). He also writes regarding two young Armenian school teachers to whom he is providing instruction, Brother S's prospects among the Greeks, the upcoming translation of some of Mr. Temple's tracts into Greco-Turkish, and their present domestic comfort and health. Following Philander's portion, Harriet (Powers) writes to Charlotte Bass Perkins. She discusses the health of Sister Schneider, mentions the birth of Eliza Howe (Schneider), remarks on reinforcements at Charlotte's station and Charlotte's health, comments on little Henry Martin's fall, discusses the deaths of the Adgers' children, and mentions Mr. Goodell's recent visit. Each Powers sends regards to several individuals.

E. C. A. Schneider letter to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Schneider responds to the news that Charlotte (Charlotte Nisbet Perkins) has died. She writes of faith in God. Schneider says that they all live together at the present (the Schneiders and the Powers) and writes regarding the temporary removal of her and her husband to C. (Constantinople) due to her health. Following Schneider's portion, Harriet G. Powers addresses Perkins. She writes regarding her arrival at Broosa (Bursa), her husband's and her own health, their accommodations, the trials of Perkins, their prayers for the Perkinses, faith, and yesterday's religious service.

Benjamin Schneider letter to Justin Perkins in which Schneider writes about the events leading to the closure of the school Mrs. Schneider had commenced: the response of the Greek bishop, a letter from the Patriarchate, and two printed letters about the missionaries. He discusses orders from the bishop that all the books prepared and circulated by the missionaries be delivered up, the subsequent carrying out of these orders by priests, and efforts by the bishop to displace Schauffler from his house. He says these efforts were prevented by the Turkish authority, noting that he and the bishop are Christian and he was protected by a "Mussuluman" (Muslim) Turk. He writes of the mission's future prospects. Schauffler also remarks on his and Perkins' children.

Charlotte H. Ladd letter to Justin Perkins expressing thanks for the advice and prescriptions he had supplied in the face of a cholera outbreak at Broosa (Bursa). Ladd describes the conditions during the cholera outbreak noting people who were fleeing the city only to find cholera follow them, the numbers of presumed dead, and the decision she and her husband made to remain at their posts which she says made a difference combating the disease and improved their acceptance by the community.
