He also gives Helen information on how to contact Dr. Richard Maurice Bucke, mentions his recent trip to Boston, and discusses his health, living situation, and family. On the card, Whitman writes that Williams should visit, as should Mr. [Edward Smith] Willard. He notes that he is the same as usual. Willard was an English actor and the accounts of Horace L. Traubel indicate that Williams and Willard telegraphed the next day to say they would be unable to visit. The envelope bears postmarks from Camden, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Donaldson and Whitman had become friends in the 1880s. Whitman writes about a Walt Whitman calendar of excerpts from "Leaves of Grass" that had been proposed by Grace Ellery Channing, saying that he will allow Grace to pursue the creation of such a calendar. He also writes that he has not heard from William O'Connor, who was at Bar Harbor at the time. Walt Whitman letter to Charles W. This page only includes part of Whitman's introduction to the article. He has made edits to the manuscript in red, requests a second proof be sent to him, and he provides his address.
