Edw. Schneider letter to Justin Perkins in which Schneider responds to information about Perkins' mission and Reverend Professor Smith. He discusses where he may meet Smith in Germany. He notes a letter he and Hörnle received from their society (Basel Evangelical Missionary Society)) instructing them to remain at Tabreez (Tabriz) until the Church Missionary Society at London gives them the allowance of going by way of Germany and England to India. Schneider mentions Mr. Haas and news received from Mr. and Mrs. Nisbeth (Nisbet) about Dr. Riach's possible upcoming travel plans. He says the Russian Consul has gone to Teheran (Tehran) and Mr. Torman will be his representative during his absence. He also mentions Perkins' Governor. Schneider letter to Justin Perkins in which Schneider thanks Perkins for his kind favors which encourage him to improve his skill in writing in English. He also thanks him for his sympathies regarding their embarrassments respecting their journey and new field of labors. He goes on to note that their hope to travel with Mr. Haas may be accomplished and that he wrote Mrs. Perkins some lines. Schneider writes about "the mourning days of the Muhammedans" (Muslims) and a matter in which an English merchant (ship) called Vixen sailed to the Eastern Shore of the Black Sea although the Russians had declared the whole shore in blockade. Schneider letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Schneider says he has read their letters to Haas and Hoernle with interest and expresses how often he remembers them. He says that it seems providence does not allow them to labour together in the same land but being united in the Lord they will work for the same glorious concern. He remarks on the alleviation of his neck pains, thanks Grant for his kind advice, and writes about the proposed remedy. He references an enclosed letter for their cook Stephan from his sister, says he will write to them from India if he can, and sends his regards to multiple individuals.
