Jepthah Bacon letter to Heman Humphrey in which Bacon writes regarding his son Peter C. Bacon (Peter Child Bacon). Jepthah Bacon explains that his son has been at Brown University but has now left and hopes to become a student at the Collegiate Institution. Bacon describes the circumstances of his son's leaving Brown, including a misunderstanding with Brown's president over Peter's need to have time off from college in order to work at a school and make money for funding the cost of his attendance. He goes on to ask that Humphrey receive his son into the Institution and states that he will be accountable for all lawful bills against Peter during his term.

Nelson brothers booklet of flags

The Nelson brothers created three booklets with labeled color drawings of flags from their imaginary world. This volume features the flags of various yacht clubs and steamship lines, as well as flags for specific ships from merchant and battle fleets. Initials under the drawings appear to indicate the geographic area associated with the flag.

The Nelson brothers created three booklets with labeled color drawings of flags from their imaginary world. The flags in this volume are labeled only with initials, making it hard to say with precision which continent, island, fleet or other part of their imaginary world the flags are meant to represent. Using a variety of symbols and formats, the Nelson brothers have created a series of flags that serve as interesting visual aids for understanding their imaginary world.

The Nelson brothers created three booklets with labeled color drawings of flags from their imaginary world. This booklet is the only one of the three with something approximating a title on the cover. The flags in this volume are the only ones set against background images. Text written on the first map in the volume indicates that this collection was intended to illustrate and differentiate the various types of flags, pennants and jacks.

Whitman, Walt, 1819-1892

A postal card sent by Walt Whitman to Talcott Williams. On the card, Whitman writes that Williams should visit, as should Mr. [Edward Smith] Willard. He notes that he is the same as usual. Willard was an English actor and the accounts of Horace L. Traubel indicate that Williams and Willard telegraphed the next day to say they would be unable to visit.

William Wordsworth autographed lines from "Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood"

Two lines from William Wordsworth's poem "Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood," written and autographed by Wordsworth. The original poem was published in 1807. The object includes annotations about Wordsworth misquoting his own poem ("humblest" should be "meanest") and about how this was likely one of the last things Wordsworth put his name to since he died a few weeks later.

Letter from Jeffery Amherst dated February 14, 1762 from New York. The letter is addressed to Sir William Johnson, Baronet. Amherst discusses trading near Little Niagara and a recent meeting with the Chiefs of the Onondaga and Oneida tribes. Amherst expresses his doubts that a similar meeting with the New England tribes will be worthwhile. The letter notes recent complaints from the Indians about the disposal of their lands. Amherst also states that he has ordered his officers to prevent the sale of rum to the Indians, as he considers it a "Destructive Liquor."
