Standish and George L. Holmes. Eddy states that they are both now patronized by the American Education Society and propose to commence studies at Amherst Academy to prepare for entry to the Collegiate Institution. Eddy also mentions Shadrach Atwood and Hilliard Bryant who were introduced to Humphrey by Sylvester Holmes. It has been determined that Zech. Eddy stands for Zechariah Eddy. Zechariah Eddy letter to Heman Humphrey, 1824 May 4 William Wordsworth letter to Robert Southey, 1815 March Wordsworth, William, 1770-1850 A letter from William Wordsworth that appears to be to Robert Southey in which Wordsworth asks Southey to send him Alexander von Humboldt's books on South America and James Montgomery's "World Before the Flood." Wordsworth also comments upon politics in Europe, apparently referring to Napoleon's march on Paris in March 1815. Wordsworth speculates that even if Napoleon gains possession of Paris again, he will not hold the imperial seat long. Also included is a fragment of paper bearing R. Southey's name. William Wordsworth letter to Robert Southey, 1815 March Jims [sic] cruise Nelson, Elmer H., 1878-1930 Written by Elmer Nelson, this short story is about a fourteen year old boy looking for adventure who boards a ship and heads out to sea. After enduring sickness, battling eagles while on a high cliff and surviving the fury of a major storm that damaged the ship and took the lives of several sailors, Jim returns home having had "quite a nice time." There are illustrations of Jim and the three-masted ship named "Speed."
