(presumably Seminary) that she is sending. She also discusses the status of Amherst (likely Amherst College) and of Andover (likely Andover Theological Seminary). Dickinson shares news of Mr. Sweetser and her cousins the Cowans who escaped from the South. She says she does not have time to tell Perkins of what the country is doing for the "white refugees and black contrabands and brown soldiers."

She asks Perkins questions regarding his situation and mentions that Dr. (Rufus) Anderson has gone to the Sandwich Islands and Dr. Wood has gone to Constantinople.

Fiske notes that the Oroomiah Mission has been the subject of special prayer here (Mount Holyoke Seminary) today and says that she read most of their letters to Miss Ballantine and Lucy.

Fiske says that she hopes to see Henry (Martyn Perkins) and will try to see Mrs. (Charlotte Bass) Perkins in the future. She writes that Miss Lyman felt that Dr. Tyler was right in refusing friends seeing Mrs. Perkins and shares her own opinions on the matter. Fiske discusses that topic further, says that she believes Perkins is right for returning to their Nestorian friends, and says she will do all she can to encourage Dr. Wright going next year.
