S. A. Rhea letter to Justin Perkins in which Rhea says that their English friends are still with them. He notes that on Friday and Saturday these friends hunted on the plain and yesterday Mr. Thursby preached for them. Rhea also writes about the upcoming travels plans of the men, saying he thinks it is well they go by Julamerk. He briefly remarks on the men's previous visit to Oroomiah (Urmia).

A portion of a letter from Ellen Ranyard presumably to Justin Perkins in which Ranyard writes regarding a variety of topics, including her husband's (Benjamin Herbert Ranyard's) health, the influence of Romanism (Catholicism) amongst the higher classes in England and Irish servants in the United States, America's recent purchase of all of Russian America, what she sees as the steps of the Antichrist, her evangelizing amongst the "Romanist" (Catholic) servants in America, the last meeting of the Bible women, the Missing Link Magazine's reach, her contemplation of issuing a large print illustrated 2nd Book & its Story, and Bible women work in England and among the Nestorians. Lady Hope Grant, Mrs. Cole Black, Ellen Harper, Mrs. Shedd, and the Sisters of Mercy are all mentioned in the letter.

Joseph Reed letter to Justin Perkins in which Reed writes that by Colonel Sheil's permission, he sends to Perkins the only portion of the translated Holy writ which has reached their friend Robert Glen. He asks that Perkins return it when he no longer requires it. Reed says cholera appears to have left Tehran but he is sorry to note that it has raged at Bagdad (Baghdad) and Sheeraz (Shiraz) and re-appeared at Koom (Qom). He also notes the continued presence of small pox and fever in Tehran and the approach of fever to Perkins' district.

Hugh H. Riach letter to Justin Perkins in which Riach writes that he now lives with his uncle, John Heugh. He shares that his stepmother (Sophia Riach) now lives in London and his grandmother and all his aunts have left Glasgow and now live in Manchester. He notes a visit from Dr. Thompson and says he is glad Perkins has pleasing recollections of his visit with them in Plymouth. Riach shares that one of Colonel Woodfall's daughters is staying with them and the rest of his family are coming. He also mentions the proposed dis-endowment of the Irish Church and the disputation it is likely to cause. In a postscript, he says he is forwarding the letter through Constantinople missionaries.

M. S. Rice letter to Justin Perkins in which Rice writes about the spread of the news that they will return to Persia, mentioning Mr. Breath, Anna, Hormezd, and Judith. She discusses the loss of Mr. Thompson and grief of his widow. Rice says that at their Syriac Monthly Concert, Pera prayed for friends who had yet to hear. She also notes the deaths of several others: David in Malta, one of Deacon's sons, Martha's mother's widowed sister, and Yonan and his wife's son Justin and "their Ripka." She writes of visiting the graveyard in Ada. Rice addresses Charlotte Bass Perkins as "Dear sister," sharing what Hannah told her of Judith (Grant Perkins). She addresses Justin again, discussing the piety of Moressa of Superghan and her husband's drinking. She shares news of Priest Echoo's illness and remarks on Deacon Isaac preaching and teaching the women in Sabbath school. In closing, Rice asks them to make a farewell call to her mother.

J. P. Riach letter to Justin Perkins in which Riach thanks Perkins for his letter and the American Missionary Report. He writes regarding the book and the efforts of Perkins' Society (the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions). Riach says that he fears he cannot hear from Perkins for sometime due to the Winter in Azerbijan (Azerbaijan) and notes that he finds the account of the Nestorian members of Perkins' family interesting. He provides recommendations for physicians based on his experience of medical practice in Persia. Riach shares that the Shah continues to say he will march on Herat in Spring. He also mentions Mr. Ellis, Mr. McNeill, and the status of the plague in the region.

Riach letter to Justin Perkins in which Riach shares the plans for members of the British party in Persia leaving, mentioning the Detachment, McNeill, Sir Henry Bethune, Major Farrant, Colonel Sheil, Saville, and Thomsen. He says he grieved at parting from Woodfall and shares the reasons for all the servants of the British Government leaving Persia, mentioning the Shah, Russia, and the Emperor. He writes of tensions between the United States and English governments as well. He writes further about the Shah and the prospects of Perkins' Mission should his own never return to Persia. He notes the proposal of some French people and an Italian Priest to establish a school.

J.P. Riach letter to Justin Perkins in which Riach shares the news of the death of his father and the ill-health of his only sister. He says he does not know enough about what is going on in Tehran to be able to give Perkins any facts from which he could judge the state prospects of Persia and "us" (the British) in it. He expresses how much he enjoyed his recent visit in Ooroomiah (Urmia), shares his distress about Samuel based on a letter received from India, and reminds Perkins to keep him informed about Mar Shimon and Dr. Grant. He also writes regarding Mr. Taliatine and his system of teaching. He suggests Perkins ask Taliatine to visit to see his schools. He mentions the Prince, Armenians, Perkins' two sons, multiple members of the Nestorian Mission, Mr. Southgate, and Nazir Aly Khan's "fat son." Riach notes that he delivered Mr. Stocking's cash to Mr. Nisbet.

Harriette Rawlinson (later Pye-Smith) letter to Justin Perkins in which Rawlinson remarks on "the changes which the opposition of the Jesuits & the persecution or unfriendly feeling of the Government" have made in Perkins' mission. She mentions Miss Fisk's (Fidelia Fiske) book. Rawlinson goes on to discuss Ellen's illness "in consumption" and the emotional effect of it, writing of faith in God. She also says that before the year closes she expects to lose her sister Mary, who will then be married and move London. She writes of loneliness and the comfort that one day they will all meet in "our Father's house above." She also shares that their prayer meetings are not what they used to be and there are not many instances of conversion. She mentions a visit from Reverend Baptist Noel.

Joseph Reed letter to Justin Perkins in which Reed notes the continued distress in the city and the southern districts. He writes regarding a breakfast Colonel Sheil gave to about 3,000 beggars and poor people on the Queen's birthday, the 24th. Reed says that last year it was difficult to get labourers for fourteen Shabees a day but now there are thousands glad to work for six a day. He goes on to discuss the ploughs he noticed in one of the Hajee's villages which were made on same principle as the one Perkins gave him. Reed also writes regarding the Shah's pain and treatment by Dr. Cloquet, the travel plans of Colonel Farrant and Lady, and Count Satiges' activities.

Riach letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Riach writes that they should on not postpone setting out to meet Mar Shimon on account of Riach's non-arrival as he may not be able to go. He notes the letter with an extract to Mr. Merrick from a letter from their Elchee about the plan for proposing a school at Tehran. He mentions members of the men's family and mission, including Perkins' sons William and Henry. He writes that he sends a letter from Taliatine and writes regarding Taliatine, Malek Kassim Meerza, and their school.

Rassam letter presumably to Justin Perkins, though Rassam addresses him as William Perkins, in which Rassam writes that he received a letter from Major Rawlinson enclosing one for Mr. Stevens, H.M. Consul of Tebriz (Tabriz), asking him to send a messenger to Perkins. Rassam asks Perkins to send another messenger immediately on to Tebriz and explains that his messenger will wait at Ooromia (Urmia) until the other returns with Mr. Stevens' answer. He goes on to say that he is sorry to hear about the differences between Mar Shimon and Perkins' Mission. He notes that he has written Mar Shimon a letter and asks Perkins to forward it to him.

He goes on to address Charlotte alone, responding to a letter received from her. Riach writes regarding the prayer meetings of ladies at the Mission, mentioning Mrs. Holladay, Mrs. Grant, and Mrs. Stocking. He remarks on the information that Woodfall seems impressed with serious thoughts (about Christianity) and expresses his own desire to come and visit the Perkinses again. Riach also writes about Mrs. Nisbet's (childbirth) confinement. He remarks on his own health, the health of Willie, and Mr. Stocking's school.

He writes further of Emma's health. He goes on to write regarding their stay in Egypt and the United Presbyterian Mission, its schools, its congregation, and books sold. Riggs writes of his trips to other missions in Turkey. He shares details and news of missions in central and eastern Turkey.

S. Rhea letter to Justin Perkins in which Rhea writes about the health and sweet character of Sophie Perkins (Rhea). She remarks on the storms which are bad for babies and turkey chicks. Rhea writes that she hopes Aziz will cook when they come home, that Miss Rice looks so tired, and that Parangis has gone after being informed there was no more work for her in the Female Seminary. She also discusses the effects of the storm and asks about the roads, saying she longs to get their precious invalid back.

Harriette Rawlinson (later Pye-Smith) letter to Justin Perkins in which Rawlinson responds to a letter from Perkins. She shares the news that Mr. Young died last Christmas and writes regarding him and Miss Young, who is still living at Elm Cottage. She also discusses their former pastor Reverend M'Millan who is now preaching in London. Rawlinson expresses her hopes for an awakening at Taunton and writes regarding their church. She responds to Perkins' mention of the work of Bible women and remarks on the Nestorian Mission.

A portion of a letter from Joseph Reed presumably to Justin Perkins in which Reed writes regarding a remedy for heat in the stomach. He provides instructions on it and his thoughts about the truth of the statements regarding it. He goes on to share the news that Mrs. Reed has presented him with a daughter on July 21. Reed remarks on the journey to his present location, noting how his wife and new daughter traveled. He sends regards to the members of Perkins' mission.

He says that he encloses some letters from the Persian Minister for Foreign Affairs and from Mr. McNeill. He notes that one of the writers is "perhaps the most respectable man in Persia." Riach also thanks Dr. Grant for his letter. He says that he thinks Malek Kassim Meerza should be asked for the money to purchase the expensive books. He also writes that he hopes to visit Ooroomiah (Urmia) when he returns from Georgia. The enclosures mentioned no longer accompany this letter.
