Ed Zohrab letter to Justin Perkins in which Zohrab provides updates since his last letter to Perkins. He notes that Colonel Considine, Captain Campbell, and Mr. Knight have left for Trebizond (Trabzon). He writes about changes in the Turkish Ministry, mentioning Ahmed Pasha, Tahir Pasha, Vassoff Effendi (the Sultan's secretary), and Temir Pasha. He also shares news of the poor health of the King of England, who will be succeeded by Princess Victoria. He remarks on the failures of America causing others in England. Zohrab notes festivities in England and France and writes about the weather and its effects on the plague in Constantinople and Trebizond. He also mentions cholera at Malta and Sicily and briefly remarks on the conflict between the Circassians and Russians.

He also mentions that Fisk is busy purchasing Mr. Laurie materials for the book about the Persian Holyoke (the Nestorian Female Seminary). Wright discusses the punches, type, and other printing business, mentioning the Greek reading and Benjamin. He also writes about talking with Dr. Robinson about the new edition of the Syriac Testament. He provides details about his upcoming travel plans and notes that John Henry and Mary are sick.

Wright letter to Justin Perkins in which Wright provides the recent resolution of the mission that Deacon Isaac be given a "present" of money and they obtain a fund to be able to pay him a similar amount yearly so that he does not have to leave Oroomiah (Urmia) and return to the mountains due to debt. He writes about disagreements and discussion about the resolution, noting Mr. Cochran's and Mr. Breath's views. Wright remarks on the value of Deacon Isaac and on his future plans. He asks Perkins to share his response on the subject and goes on to discuss his own health and work on the proofs. He also writes about the young Prince's power, the famine, the sad state of Geog Tapa where there is strong feeling against John, and the travels of Mr. Ambrose.

Wright to Justin Perkins in which Wright writes regarding individual Nestorians, members of the mission, and other updates relating to the mission and its printing operations. Lona, Elkhas, Elkhas' son, Pasha Khan, Shimon, Mr. Breath, Wright's infant, Mr. Ambrose, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Shedd, Dr. Anderson, Mar Yohannan along with members of his family, Priest Aslan, Challaby, Meerza, and Hormezd and his son are individuals mentioned in the letter. Multiple local villages are also mentioned: Seir, Dizza Takka, Karajaloo, and Geog Tapa. Wright notes current activities of British and Russian diplomats, including Mr. Abbott. He says that the Persians are gathering in force in Khorassan to proceed to Merve where a large Turcoman (Turkoman) force is concentrated aided by the Beloochees.

S.M. Worcester letter to Justin Perkins in which Worcester says that he read part of Perkins' last letter from his pulpit and the next Sabbath he preached on missions. He mentions Perkins' remarks on the Concert of Prayer and details of his present situation and prospects. He gives updates about Amherst College and several individuals: Dr. Humphrey, Prof. Fiske, Mr. Tyler, and Edward Humphrey and his brothers John and James. He also remarks briefly on the aspect of religion in the country and asks Perkins to say a word on the privations of a missionary. Worcester writes about being the minister of Tabernacle and the church itself. He also shares family news.

He mentions the Greek text, the Peshito (Peshitta), and Dr. Robinson and provides his own opinions on the topic. He responds to Perkins urging him to not wait on carrying the work through, his questions, and his order for an album for Fatullah Khan. Wright also provides brief updates on Lucy and Caty and asks if Mar Yohannan is still active in his opposition. He mentions F.B. Wheeler.

P.P. Zohrab letter to Justin Perkins in which Zohrab notes Perkins' improved health and says that as soon as Mr. Brant arrives there Mr. Abbott will leave to establish himself at Tabreez (Tabriz). He writes about politics, mentioning the "Rebel Ravendooz Bey" and Reshen. He says it is a pity the latter "did not live long enough to finish the compete subjugation of all the Kurds." He goes on to note T.G., who drops in occasionally, and gentlemen from the Euphrates Expedition who recently visited. Zohrab writes about a passage of Mr. Smith's book in which he was discussed and about political news relating to the British fleet, a "slight attempt at a revolution" in France, Louis Napoleon’s activities, the removal of the Reis Effendi in Constantinople, and the effects of this removal on British and Russian influence on the Divan.

A.H. Wright letter to Justin Perkins in which Wright writes about the changes to his plans, from everyone in his family except Caty returning to Persia to his family staying and him returning alone. He notes the misgivings of his wife regarding the previous plan and the letter from her elder brother remonstrating against them going, which led Wright to reconsider. He also notes the difficulty with the prior plan relating to where to settle Caty and Caty's health. He says his family will probably remain in this place (Poughkeepsie) and that the time of his leaving is not settled. Wright also shares what he knows of other returned missionaries plans.

A.H. Wright letter to Justin Perkins in which Wright responds to Perkins marvelling that Wright said nothing of returning to Persia in his January letter by explaining that the N.T. (New Testament) work has kept him. He also expresses his pains at Perkins' statement, "the small type does not take here - I am glad of it, since the edition is to be changed" and responds to Perkins saying the Peshito (Peshitta) is to be set aside. He says it is his understanding that twenty years ago when the Bible Society consented to them putting the Greek readings on the margin it was a compromise meant to be temporary. Wright continues to write on the topic and disagrees with Perkins that the Peshito should be set aside. He writes again the following day about Perkins' solitary position, Benjamin proof-reading, and expecting to hear of the fall of Vicksburg. He notes that Bro. Ambrose was working among the soldiers in Fredericksburg.

He briefly mentions the funeral service of Abel Lawrence and goes on to write regarding Perkins returning to Persia without his wife (Charlotte Bass Perkins). He writes about his own experience of Mrs. Worcester being in the McLean Asylum. He notes that he has not seen her in years and writes about her case, times when he thought he might move her elsewhere, and the cost. He shares his thoughts on Perkins' decision (about whether he should go to Persia and leave his wife in the asylum) and mentions Br. Treat.

He shares his thoughts on the matter and those of Dr. Robinson, who mentioned the reluctance of the Board of Managers of the Bible Society in authorizing the printing of the translation of Peshito (Peshitta). He also provides the response of Dr. Holdich of the Society to the proposed changes. He says he expects to have a copy ready for the printers in three days and mentions Benjamin. In a postscript he notes receipt of a specimen of the new type and the delay, which has been great.

He writes regarding the winter and notes that the plague still continues at Constantinople and Trebizond (Trabzon). He remarks on the effects of cholera in Europe, particularly Italy, and in America at Charleston. He responds to news of the progress of Perkins' work and remarks on the good example of Malek Kassim Mirza and the policy of Russia to keep people in ignorance. He also responds to Perkins' inquiries about mail. Zohrab writes about the Russians seizing an English vessel in the Black Sea and says he hopes the English do not acknowledge the Russian blockade. He asks Perkins to send him Mr. Eli Smith's Journey through Armenia. He also briefly mentions Mr. Brant and Mr. Abbott.

He also writes regarding the Meera's household and the castle of (Kurdish) chief in Julamerk (Hakkari). He remarks on the oppression of Nestorians there and shares his plan for preaching should they be permitted to go through the Nestorian districts. He expresses his anxiety about his family, especially Lucy. He says if Breath decides to leave him these parts, his present feeling is that it would be one of the saddest times of his life when he bids him adieu.

P.P. Zohrab letter to Justin Perkins in which Zohrab shares the news that "Gellaly" Kurds have passed the frontier and attacked a village. He says that in consequence the Pasha has deemed it prudent to delay Karavans (caravans) from going to wait a day or two. He writes that he thought it advisable to tell Perkins so that he may take such precaution.

He says it seems to be the same as the old in regards to the restrictions on the number of schools, pupils, and sects and the only new idea is in "'teaching sciences' & 'not religion.'" He goes on to provide updates on the progress of the New Testament work, mentioning Mr. Cobb. He also responds to Perkins alluding to Wright hastening back to Persia. He says that the question of Lucy and Caty (and where they will stay or if one will go to Persia) is not yet solved. He provides updates on Caty, Lucy, Sarah, Johnny, and Mary. He mentions what he has heard of or learned from other missionaries and notes that the draft commenced there today.

Ed Zohrab letter to Justin Perkins in which Zohrab notes that the plague continues its ravages at Constantinople, with six to eight thousand dying weekly, and has broken out again at Trebizond (Trabzon). He says that they are expecting to see Mr. Brant soon and because he will likely require Zohrab's assistance, Zohrab will not be able to visit Perkins. He mentions Mr. Abbott, and he writes regarding the change in the ministry at Constantinople which he says is a mortal blow to Russia since all the present ministers are anti-Russian. Zohrab expresses his hopes that a similar change will occur in Persia, mentions the cold weather, notes that Mr. Fraser and the two Persian princes are on their way back to Persia, and says he is sending Perkins newspapers.

He references the Bible Society desiring to electrotype the whole Bible and asks "if this should not be done, would it not be well to have the Psalms at least electrotyped?" He writes further about this idea and goes on to discuss the efforts of him, Coan, and Cobb to raise material aid for the suffering Nestorians. He shares what he heard about Henry (Perkins) from John Labaree, mentions Woman and her Savior in Persia, provides updates on Lucy and Sarah, and remarks on Perkins' letter to the Missionary Herald on missionary children.

Ed Zohrab letter to Justin Perkins in which Zohrab expresses his hopes that Perkins and his party reached their destination safely, and he notes that shortly after they left Mr. and Mrs. Haas and their party arrived. He writes about Mrs. Haas and notes the death of her son. He says that Dr. Dickson, Mr. Brant's surgeon, and Mr. Calvert, who will replace Zohrab when he goes to Persia, arrived. He also notes the departure of the Persian Ambassador for Constantinople and the resolution of the Jelalee affair, mentioning the Pasha. Zohrab writes regarding the Russians making preparations for an attack on the Circassians, the Russian blockade, and a conspiracy in Constantinople to assassinate the Sultan. In closing, he mentions the young men in Malta and Mr. Southgate.
