A printed compilation of Collegiate Institution statements regarding the petition for incorporation. The first statement included is "To the Public," dated March 12, 1824 and written by Heman Humphrey on behalf of the Trustees in favor of granting charter. Other content includes sections titled "Residence of Students" and "Extracts from the Printed Constitution, to Various Copies of which a Charity Fund is Subscribed," dated June 2, 1824, as well as a note regarding the Charity Fund subscribers' petition in support of granting charter. A closing note from a Committee of the Trustees of Amherst Academy explains that they submit the foregoing together with a pamphlet annexed to the members of the Legislature. The Committee consists of Heman Humphrey, Nathaniel Smith, Israel E. Traske, Jonathan Going, and John Fiske and the accompanying pamphlet includes information relating to the Collegiate Institution, the Charity Fund, and the Thirty Thousand Dollar Subscription along with statistics regarding other colleges. An appendix with further information is also provided. Information included in the pamphlet is from various dates and is attributed to various individuals including Rufus Graves, Lucius Boltwood, and John Leland.
