P.B. Day letter to Justin Perkins in which Day responds to a letter from Perkins and writes regarding recent Sabbath activities at Andover Theological Seminary, mentioning Mr. Bird, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Holiday (Holladay), and Mr. Stocking. He goes on to discuss the S. (Sabbath) School's missionary society, missionary lessons at school, and the importance of such education in New England. Day supposes Brother Burgess has written of missionary feeling in the Seminary, but shares news regarding faculty there, including Dr. Justin Edwards, Professor E.A. Park, Professor Stuart, Dr. Woods and his daughter Sarah, and Mr. Hall's wife.

Beginning with the program for the first Commencement in August 1822, commencement programs contain the order of exercises for commencement ceremonies. Alpheus Hardy and Henry Edwards letter to an unknown recipient in which they write on behalf of the Trustees of Amherst College and ask the recipient for financial aid. Hardy and Edwards explain that an individual has offered Amherst College twenty thousand dollars on the condition that a like sum be raised for the purpose of placing the Scientific Department of the College on a complete and thorough basis. They explain what sums have been raised and what is still needed by July 1, asking the recipient to aid them to secure the sum in time.

A sermon by Edward Hitchcock in which Hitchcock discusses the influence of prayer by true Christians. He claims that the "irreligious" are dependent upon the prayer of Christians to save them, and uses the example of Moses saving the Israelites from God's wrath by praying. Psalms 106:23 is quoted. Hitchcock explains it is because God can show his mercy and power this way, and can use the wicked to further his overall plan for the world. Job 21:7 is quoted.
