Class of 1826 1 show more 2 show fewer Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the senior class final examinations, 1824 July 21 Humphrey, Heman, 1779-1861 A document in which Heman Humphrey writes on behalf of the faculty of the Collegiate Institution regarding the examination of the senior class in all the studies of their four year course. Humphrey notes the time and date of the examination and names the men who were examined. He comments on the performance of the students. Humphrey goes on to say that the faculty records it as their unanimous opinion that all of the named students have now finished the course of classical studies usually found in colleges and are thereby entitled to the usual college honors. An additional note below Humphrey's signature states "Senior Examination 1824." Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the senior class final examinations, 1824 July 21 Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the sophomore class examinations, 1824 August 23 Humphrey, Heman, 1779-1861 A document stating that the faculty of the Amherst Collegiate Institution voted that the examination of the sophomore class was satisfactory and that the performance of many members of the class was commendable. It goes on to say that a few individuals did not possess the desired level of knowledge regarding some studies but most of the deficiencies can be attributed to want of health and none were so great as to render any public exceptions necessary. It states that the whole class advance to the standing of Junior Sophisters. The document is signed by Heman Humphrey on behalf of the faculty. Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the sophomore class examinations, 1824 August 23 Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the sophomore class examinations, 1824 May 10 Humphrey, Heman, 1779-1861 A document stating that on May 10, 1824 it was voted that the late examination of the sophomore class of the Amherst Collegiate Institution was satisfactory. The document also states that "the faculty cheerfully express their approbation of the examination in general" and that the appearance of this class was better in some studies than in others. It states that in particular the faculty thought the examination of the class in geometry was unusually good and the appearance of the class in Jamieson's Rhetoric was not as good as desired. However, it states, the faculty do not think any exceptions are necessary and thus consider the whole class advanced to the standing of sophomores. Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the freshmen class examinations, 1824 August 23 Resolution of the Collegiate Institution faculty regarding the junior class examinations, 1824 May 10 Humphrey, Heman, 1779-1861 A document stating that on May 10, 1824 the faculty of the Amherst Collegiate Institution came to the opinion that the junior class "generally acquitted themselves with honor" at their late examination. It also states that the faculty observed that many members of the class excelled. The faculty hopes that all will elevate themselves to "the sphere of unqualified approbation." Resolution of the Collegiate Institution faculty regarding the junior class examinations, 1824 May 10 Collegiate Institution faculty resolution regarding the junior class examinations, 1824 August 23 Humphrey, Heman, 1779-1861 A document stating that at a meeting of the faculty of the Collegiate Institution it was decided that at their examination the members of the junior class generally acquitted themselves in a manner honorable to themselves and the Institution and thus they will all advance to the standing of Senior Sophisters.
