Events photographed are in various locations including downtown Amherst and on the Main Quadrangle (also known as the first-year quad). Images show canvassing in town, the passing out of postcards for students and townspeople to fill out and send to President Nixon, and speakers and protesters during the rally that took place on the Amherst Town Common. Photographs also document the organization of students in preparation for canvassing Amherst and nearby towns and crowds gathered in front of the Robert Frost Library watching presenters on the front steps. Individuals photographed include Donald S. Pitkin, Dean Allen, and Leo Marx. The photographer also recorded the names Smith, Clark Kent, Linda, and Mrs. Soltysik. These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). Jim Gerhard was the College Photographer from the mid-1960s to 1971. Photographed are student protestors, including musicians, outside on the steps of Converse Hall. Several demonstrators have protest signs, and a banner in the background reads "Liberated." These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications).
