Smith letter to Justin Perkins in which Smith thanks Perkins for his correspondence and says that it prompts the missionary spirit among them. He writes regarding his church (Fourth Presbyterian Church) and their strong feeling for Home Missions over Foreign Missions, growing out of the fact that the Roman Catholics and Puseyites are making vigorous efforts there. He clarifies, however, that their monthly concert is regularly attended and they still make contributions to the Society. Smith also writes about their Junior Missionary Society, the death of brother Armstrong and lack of a successor, the accounts of revivals from Perkins' station, and the meeting of the Board in Buffalo in September.
