J.P. Riach letter to Justin and Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Riach writes about two loads of potatoes for Merrick and Perkins. He goes on to address Charlotte alone, responding to a letter received from her. Riach writes regarding the prayer meetings of ladies at the Mission, mentioning Mrs. Holladay, Mrs. Grant, and Mrs. Stocking. He remarks on the information that Woodfall seems impressed with serious thoughts (about Christianity) and expresses his own desire to come and visit the Perkinses again. Riach also writes about Mrs. Nisbet's (childbirth) confinement. He remarks on his own health, the health of Willie, and Mr. Stocking's school.

A.P. Goodell letter to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Goodell writes regarding Perkins' difficult journey to Tabreez (Tabriz) and restored health. She asks if they had completed Miss Charlotte Nisbet's wardrobe before reaching Tabreez and if they were amply supplied with provisions from Constantinople. Goodell updates Perkins on their move to a stone house on the Galata side and discusses a prayer meeting of the (mission's) sisters at Mr. Schauffler's. She notes Mrs. Thomson's death at Jerusalem and the death of Mrs. Hallock's Martha. She also shares news regarding Mrs. Dwight, Mrs. Johnston and her son, Mr. and Mrs. Schauffler, and her own children, including Isabella.

H.G.O. Dwight letter to Justin Perkins and Asahel Grant in which Dwight responds to letters received from them both. He writes regarding the death of his wife (Elizabeth Barker Dwight) and son, John White, from plague. He expresses his faith in the mercy of God, and he writes of his blessings and God's providence. Dwight notes that he is still in quarantine but hopes to remove to Pera this week.

Eben. (Ebenezer) Burgess letter to Justin Perkins in which Burgess writes regarding their journey to Ahmednuggar (Ahmadnagar), the Mission and its schools, and his current status. He discusses the prejudices of the people towards missionaries, writes of the excitement caused by the conversion of two Brahman, and discusses the effects of local governments on missions. He also writes of British expansion and current political tensions between China and England. Burgess updates Perkins on matters in America, mentioning the Presbyterian Church, the Jackson party, the "good old ship" Constitution, and the antislavery party. He also comments on Brother Merrick's marriage and Professor Tyler's engagement. On the last page of the letter, Mary Burgess addresses Charlotte Bass Perkins and Jerusha Stocking, writing of the daily life of the missionaries and their families at her station. She mentions Miss Farrar, Mr. and Mrs. French, Mr. Abbot, Mr. Ballentine, and Mr. Webster.

A letter from Eliza (presumed to be Eliza Cheney Abbott Schneider) to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Eliza writes so that Perkins may have words to remember her by once they have "exchanged the last word, the last pressure of the hand, and the last look!" Eliza shares her thoughts on her own experiences and what Perkins will face as the wife of a missionary, especially in regards to loneliness. She quotes the New Testament of the Bible several times.

M.VZ. Cobb (Matilda V.Z. Cobb) letter to Justin Perkins in which Cobb responds to a letter from Perkins to Mr. Cobb (Henry N. Cobb). She updates Perkins on Mr. Cobb's health and writes regarding their uncomfortable voyage via ship to their current location. Cobb says they are not sure of when they will leave or by what route, discusses the difficult decision for them to leave Oroomiah (Urmia), and remarks on Perkins' returning to his field. Cobb also discusses letters received and mentions Mrs. Breath, Mrs. Thompson, Dr. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Pollard, and Miss Beach.

A. Eliza Crane (Ann E. Cowles Crane, later Powers) letter to Justin and Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Crane thanks them for their letters and for the ones written by her husband (Edwin Crane). She writes about the final action "of the Com." declining to send her back to Persia. Crane describes her feelings on not being able to go back and teach there. She also writes regarding her current work at Vesper Cliff for the Sardys (John B. Sardy and family), her son Eddie, correspondence with the Cochrans, possibly preparing a work for Sabbath schools, and trying to meet with fellow missionaries. She asks the Perkinses for updates.

Sarah P. Coan letter to Justin Perkins

Coan, S. P. (Sarah P.)

S.P. Coan (presumably Sarah P. Coan) letter to Justin Perkins in which Coan responds to notes. She addresses the suggestion for a door keeper, says she regrets they will not be in Gawar by winter, comments on someone reaching Oroomiah (Urmia), and discusses the school room. She also writes regarding the masons and the difficulties they will face if they chose to come. She expresses her dread that the Moudir may come and her hope to stay there (presumably in Memikan). Coan remarks on the "Koords" (Kurds) several times. In a postscript, she says that she hopes to see such a school there as that of Miss Fisk and Miss Rice in Oroomiah. Shaleas, Deacon Tamo's wife, Henry, and two individuals with illegible names are mentioned.

S. B. and Maria L. Munger letters to Justin and Charlotte Perkins. S.B. Munger writes to Justin Perkins about his new position in the Jaulnah (Jalna) station of the Mahratta Mission (American Marathi Mission), he and his wife had left Bombay on account of Mrs. Munger's health during the rains and after much traveling and brief stays at a number of locations they are settled in their present location without official permission from the Nizam, but "trusting wholly to divine providence." Munger notes that native regiments officered by Europeans living nearby offers a degree of protection, ease of living, and access to medical aid that would not normally be available. Munger says he does not yet have a congregation but had started one school with expectations of two more and is the only missionary at the station and was in desperate need of helpers, and the Mission struggles to find aid for its labors. On the final page, Maria L. Munger writes to Charlotte Perkins about her joy in receiving Charlotte's letter and states that despite the great distance separating them they share the same task among those who were strangers to God and says that she and her husband derive their "principal encouragement from the word and promises of God."

Friedrich Haas letter to Justin Perkins. Haas references Mrs. Perkins' (Charlotte Bass Perkins) health and sends regards from Mrs. Haas who was unable to find the leisure to write and thanks Mrs. Perkins for items she sent to Haas' children. Haas states he is rejoicing to leave Persia and shares his negative opinion of the country and of the character of the Persians and states his desires to have been able to do more in his missionary work, that he feels it is ultimately up to prayer and Providence and continued missionary efforts.

Abby Bates letter to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Bates writes regarding how much she thinks of Perkins and recalls the time they spent together. She writes of the course Perkins has taken, discussing her usefulness and work. Bates responds to a letter from Perkins and comments on the subject of Missions, the health of several local individuals, and the local revival. Bates also asks Perkins questions regarding her residence and the customs of the people there. She discusses news of several other individuals including sister H, Bell, Laura, and family. Throughout the letter, Bates talks of God and faith in him.
