E. C. A. S. (Eliza Cheney Abbott Schneider) letter to Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Schneider responds to a letter from Perkins, remarking on Perkins' health and journey. She writes that all are sick and discusses the states of each mission member. Schneider continues the letter on Tuesday, saying that they depart for Broosa (Bursa) soon. She writes regarding the local situation in Broosa and her hopes for her new home and her own new standard of piety. Numerous individuals are mentioned directly in the letter, including Mr. Paspati, Hohanes (Hohannes), Mrs. Goodell, Mrs. Dwight, Mrs. Johnson and her husband, Messrs. Goodell and Dwight, Mrs. Schauffler and her husband, Mr. Schneider, Mrs. Brown, and the Commodore (Porter). In an additional note, she mentions a fire in Constantinople that destroyed seventy or eighty houses.
