George Washburn letter to Justin Perkins in which Washburn shares that he learned from a telegraph that there is money on the way from England for Perkins to be used for the benefit of the famine stricken Nestorians. He says he has also received from Dr. Pfander of the Church Missionary Society money for the same purpose.

Eliz. Wheelwright letter to Justin Perkins in which Wheelwright notes letters from Perkins and other missionaries. She says that this letter is going along with a box and writes further about boxes they have sent and plan to send and books for packages. Miss and Mrs. Banister are mentioned several times. Wheelwright responds to what Perkins said about the two girls who came from a great distance to the Seminary, mentions Miss Rankin, and notes that her brother is going on with the Rail Road though the war with Paraguay has caused difficulty. After the letter are three loose pages that pertain to the contents of a box, presumably the one that also contained this letter.

Thos. M. Taylor letter to Justin Perkins in which Taylor responds to a letter from Perkins. He writes about a prior donation and new donation (from Zion Church) for Perkins' mission. Taylor shares that they have much good being done there by means of Bible reading and women of the lowest orders going forth and telling of Jesus, whom they themselves have found. He also writes regarding the influence of the "missing link" of England (The Missing Link, or Bible Women in the Homes of the London Poor). He shares his own impression of the book and the effort it describes. He notes a visit from Mr. Harmond, additions to the churches there, and a visit from Dr. Wright. In closing, he remarks on Perkins' solitary return to Persia.

John Howard and Luke Sweetser letter to Justin Perkins in which John Howard writes of how he earned money with which he has bought testaments for the Nestorian children. He notes that he is a student at the (Amherst) Academy of which Perkins was once principal and writes of his studies. He says Reverend Mr. Coleman is now principal. Subsequently, John's father Luke writes to Perkins, remarking on Perkins' visit and what they hear of Perkins and the Bishop Mar Yohannan. He says that they have held their monthly concert in connexion with (Amherst) College recently and writes about that arrangement. Luke tells Perkins not to be afraid to speak out on the subject of Puseyism and papacy and shares news about his church and the salvation of individuals.

J. Salter letter to Justin Perkins in which Salter writes from the Strangers' Home for Asiatics. He writes regarding Adam and his companion and their fundraising efforts. He goes on to discuss money coming to Oroomiah (Urmia), the Syriac scriptures Perkins sent, and the polyglot Gospel of John which he himself is compiling. He updates Perkins on his "work on the Nestorians," mentioning Assemani, Layard's Nineveh, and the massacre under Beder Khan (also called Bader or Bedr Khan Beg). Salter asks if he can help with the cut off in correspondence with Erz (presumably Erzurum) that Perkins is experiencing. In closing, he writes of his faith in God and hope for the time when Jesus will reign.

M.P. Dutton (Mary Pomeroy Dutton) letter to Justin and Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Dutton writes regarding local interest in missionary work and regarding the Juvenile Society. She discusses the young ladies of it making clothing for the Perkinses and their mission and writes about sending them along with other items. Dutton shares news about her church, her family, and local individuals. She responds to updates from the Perkinses. Dutton mentions the Stoddards, Miss Fisk (Fiske), Miss Rice, Mrs. Wilkinson, Mr. Strong, Dr. Adams, Mrs. Butterfield, Mrs. Francis. In addition, Dutton shares the news of Mrs. Perkins (Louisa Dutton Perkins) and the death of her son Henry Perkins. Dutton also mentions her own children Harriet, Thomas, Eliza, Horace, and Julia, and the Perkinses' children Judith and Henry Martyn.

Mary Brewster McClure and Alexander Wilson McClure letter to Justin Perkins. Mary McClure writes to Perkins reflecting on the wide contrast between the settings in which she and Perkins live and notes they each share the gift of a new child to raise as a loving, serving Christian. She announces that "our ladies here" have adopted the young lad of promise Perkins recommended, asks that the youth write to them, and blesses the boy in his missionary work to his own people and shares news of her family. Alexander McClure writes informing Perkins that the people of Malden remember him well and wish to hear from him as often as possible and that they also wished to hear from John for whom they will pray and notes the ladies who had committed to his maintenance asked that his name be changed to Alexander but McCLure presumes that is not possibly assuming the child is baptized. McClure offers to be of service to Perkins in any way necessary and hopes that Mrs. Perkins (Charlotte Bass Perkins) is happy and a great contributor to Perkins' usefulness.

Alexander Wilson McClure letter to Justin Perkins expressing disappointment at having missed connecting with Perkins in Boston after nearly a decade apart. McClure shares everyone in Malden, Massachusetts was also anxious to meet with him, his wife and child, his Nestorian friend, and to learn of his mission work, and of the youth they sponsored. McClure invites Perkins and his Nestorian friend to spend a Sabbath where he says a subscription will be taken for the American Board (American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions). McClure shares in the Perkins' bereavements with news of the death of two of his family members including his first born noting it must be thrice as painful to bury three children as it is to bury one.

Langdon S. Ward letter to Justin Perkins, 1863 August 7

L.S. Ward of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions letter to Justin Perkins in which Ward transcribes a letter written on July 31, 1863 from J.C. Gallup in Clinton, NY to James M. Gordon in Boston which contains a complaint that Ward is referring to Perkins. Ward notes the complaint was previously referred to Miss Fisk (Fiske) but did not seem to satisfy. In the transcribed letter, Gallup notes that Perkins previously proposed to their S.S. (presumably Sabbath School) association a plan of raising money for a native Nestorian preacher among the "Koords" (Kurds). Gallup writes that they have raised more than planned but have not heard from anyone in Persia in acknowledgement and says it would be a pleasure for the children to know something of what is being done with their contributed money.

Caleb Mills letter to Justin Perkins in which Mills writes to express his interest in the missionary cause, outlining details of a proposal to support a promising Nestorian youth at Perkins' school in Persia who is preparing to become a teacher and requesting that he be given the English name James Howe for the Reverend of Pepperell, Massachusetts. Mills shares news that the family of Perkins' brother-in-law had suffered from poor health the previous summer and fall. Mills notes he is including a copy of the address given by Reverend Baldwin upon his inauguration as president of Wabash College and a packet from H. D. Humphrey, a college acquaintance of Perkins, and three papers which would shed light on the condition of the Presbyterian church. Mills closed his letter with a farewell, not knowing if he would live to write again. The enclosures mentioned no longer accompany this letter.
