Abstract | Samuel Dana writes to Charlotte Perkins at the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. Cozzens (Abby Bass and Samuel W. Cozzens) about the Perkins' voyage to Constantinople and Persia and their missionary labors. Dana hopes that letters from old acquaintances are welcome and notes their sufferings and his thankfulness that they have been protected and prospered and have been favorably received by the people "whose spiritual and immortal welfare" is the object of their mission, that their health and happiness be "precious in God's sight" and that their mission will not be in vain and that the members of his church think of and pray for them. Dana closes noting his health is still poor and mentions the marriage of his children Henrietta, Mary Dana, and Richard. |
