Abstract
A letter with an illegible signature to Justin Perkins. The sender writes that he is enclosing a sheet with a few of his thoughts on "the recent visitations of Providence amongst us" and asks Perkins for his thoughts on it. Included is the document, dated February 10, 1840 and titled "The Dealings of Providence within this Mission." He writes that Providence has been calling for a revival by people within the Mission: firstly by sending word of successful missionary efforts in the Sandwich Islands amongst the "unlearned savages," secondly through sermons on the subject delivered by Perkins and others, and finally with smite as five children have now been taken away.
