Abstract | A portion of a letter presumably written by Justin Perkins to an unidentified correspondent, possibly Hannah Lyman. Perkins writes regarding an unnamed woman, likely Catherine Marsh. The sender notes that whom they are describing is to send them a copy of "Major Vandeleur's Life" (The life of Arthur Vandeleur, Major, Royal Artillery) and includes on the last page text of the inscription in the book from Catherine Marsh to Miss Lyman (Hannah Lyman). Lyman is noted in the inscription as the author of The Martyr of Sumatra. Mr. Chalmers is also mentioned in the letter. |
