Abstract
M.P. Dutton (Mary Pomeroy Dutton) letter to Justin and Charlotte Bass Perkins in which Dutton writes about the memoir of Judith Grant Perkins, images of their daughter, and their grief at her loss. She also writes regarding anniversary season, the case of a fugitive slave (likely Anthony Burns), slavery in the United States, the Perkinses' missionary work, members of their mission circle, and news of her pastor and his family, local individuals, and her own family. In the letter, Dutton mentions Mr. Waidwell, Mr. Whipple, the (Kansas-) Nebraska Bill, the colonization society, the anti slavery party, Mrs. Stocking, Miss Fiske (Fisk), Mr. A. (Adams), Williston, John Perkins, Mr. Fiske, her children Julia and Edward, Julia Maria Sleeper, Mr. Kingsman, Sarah Anderson, Dr. Anderson, Mrs. Stoddard, and Mrs. (Louisa) Perkins.
