Abstract | I.G. Bliss (Isaac G. Bliss) letter to Justin Perkins in which Bliss says that he read aloud Mr. Cobb's letters to Mr. Labaree to his and Dr. Goodell's families last evening. He remarks on the news in the letters regarding "our national course" and the terrible riots in New York. He discusses news he has of the American Civil War as well, mentioning Fort Sumter, Morris Island, and the address to all Christians by the ministers of the confederacy. Bliss asks if Perkins has received the Bible yet and asks several other questions regarding it. He discusses the current state of his family and missionaries stationed at the Mission or who have visited. |
