Abstract
Payson Williston letter to Justin Perkins in which Williston responds to Perkins saying that, due to Williston's advanced age, he looks on each of his letters as the last. Williston writes about this sentiment and others younger in years who have died, including Mr. C. (Edwin Crane). He discusses faith in God in relation to such losses and in respect to the aggressive movement (the Crimean War). He writes about the prospects for missionaries and the field missions improving and about the last meeting of the American Board (of Commissioners for Foreign Missions), mentioning N. Adams, the Choctaw and Cherokee missions, and Secretary Wood. He also briefly remarks on the late successes of the allies at Sevastopol.
