Abstract | Susan F. Shedd letter to Justin Perkins in which Shedd writes about letters Perkins' wife (Charlotte Bass Perkins) addressed to Dr. Tyler and the directors of the Asylum. She shares that in the one to Tyler, Charlotte requested he stop coming to her door every morning and said "she little realized what was to be her fate when she said so many times perhaps the Lord did not intend that she should return to Persia." Shedd also discusses Charlotte's letter to the directors which she notes was respectful, religious, and set forth her grievances and desire to be released. Shedd expresses her hopes that Justin will keep a fatherly eye over their Susan in Persia and mentions Miss Fiske. |
