Abstract
Joseph Reed letter to Justin Perkins in which Reed responds to the news that the Perkinses lost another infant. He writes that the Shah continues well and there has not been any further discussion regarding the French missionaries. He mentions Count Satiges. Reed writes regarding the distress caused by so little rain last year, including starving families coming to Tehran from Kashan, rumors of children being sold at Shah-abdul Azeem and in Kermanshah, and people begging their way from Hamadan to the Capital. Reed says no steps have been taken by the Government to alleviate the distress and notes prices of food. He also shares news of battles "fought by our troops in the Punjab." Reed mentions Major Todd and Colonel Farrant and says that he encloses Dr. Pusey's sermon which no longer accompanies this item.
