Abstract | A.M.D. Tyler letter to Justin Perkins in which Tyler writes regarding Mrs. Perkins (Charlotte Bass Perkins). She says that Dr. Tyler thought she should not suggest writing Justin to Charlotte, as that would be the surest way to prevent her doing it. She discusses the loud and peculiar singing of Charlotte in church; subsequent requests for her not to sing, which made Charlotte "unreasonable;" and Charlotte's vocal dislike of one of Dr. Tyler's sermons. She also writes about books Charlotte is interested in and says that Charlotte sews for the Soldiers and reads. In an additional note, she says "I believe Mrs. P. thinks the Brattleboro Asylum was burnt as a judgement for her being there and she anticipates something for us." |
