Abstract | Elias Riggs letter to Justin Perkins in which Riggs says that "having joined the fraternity of bearded men, I have lately had a new photograph taken," a copy of which he is enclosing. He writes that he is now alone as Mrs. Riggs left for the United States to accompany their sons James and Charles who are going to pursue their studies. He writes further on that topic, providing updates on their other son Edward as well. Riggs notes when they left and that Clara Hamlin, Brother Parsons' two daughters, and Miss Proctor left with them. He says that he is boarding with Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin and that he anticipates Dr. Pratt leaving, mentioning Mr. Trowbridge. Riggs writes about their recent annual meeting and his current work on the Bulgarian Scripture and the Armenian and Armeno-Turkish translations. The enclosure noted no longer accompanies this letter. |
