Abstract | Susan F. Shedd letter to Justin Perkins in which Shedd updates Perkins on his wife (Charlotte Bass Perkins) based on information she's received from Dr. Tyler at the Asylum. She notes Charlotte's appetite, general health, excitement, and constant church attendance. She shares a story about Charlotte's loud singing in church. She also relays Mrs. Perkins' responses to Dr. Tyler asking how long since she entertained her present feelings in regard to her husband and how long since she spoke of it, noting that in answering the latter she unconsciously dated it back to the death of Judith (Grant Perkins). Shedd says she thinks Charlotte is happier there (at the asylum) than she would be elsewhere, mentions Henry (Perkins), notes that they have moved, shares that her brother expects to be married on the 20th, and says her class want their next contribution to go to Justin's mission. |
