Abstract | S.B. Treat letter to Justin Perkins in which Treat explains his delay in getting to see Mrs. P. (Charlotte Bass Perkins) and writes about his visit with Dr. Tyler and then her yesterday. He notes that she was moved to another part (of the Asylum) after some troubles in the matter of her singing in church and annoying other ladies. He provides updates on her health and writes about Mrs. P.'s opinions of her husband, saying that she questions his piety and fitness to be a missionary. He also discusses Dr. Tyler's feelings about how often he should visit and if Mr. Shedd can visit. He provides his opinion that such a retreat is the best place for Mrs. P. |
