Abstract | B. Labaree letter to Justin Perkins in which Labaree writes regarding Perkins' son Henry in relation to his schoolwork, his Christian character, his roommate, and his manner as a gentleman. He says that Henry is now in Philadelphia with Justin Perkins' sister and writes about Henry's friends, funds, future plans, and room in College (Middlebury College). He shares news from his own recent visits to Boston and Enfield, mentioning Mr. Treat and Mr. Wood. Labaree remarks briefly on what he has heard of Mrs. P. (Charlotte Bass Perkins). He notes the trials of the Nestorians and of Benjamin (Labaree, Jr.) and his wife. Labaree then writes of their troubles at home, mentioning the President's Message and Proclamation, the rebellion, and the doom of slavery. |
