Abstract | W.S. Tyler letter to Justin Perkins in which Tyler responds to a letter from Perkins and the information that Perkins' health is giving way. He remarks on his own health and labors and notes the new volume by Perkins on the Nestorian Missions issued by the Am. Tr. Soc. (American Tract Society). Tyler writes regarding "Plutarch 'De Sera Numinus Vindicta'" and The Theology of Greek Poets. He shares his views that all literature, science, and history illustrates the Bible. He writes regarding current Bible scholarship, discussing several authors, books, scholars, and the value of American and English scholars taught in German. Tyler goes on to answer Perkins' local questions about the change in location of the village church, the "Colored Sunday school," the current state of the old (Amherst) Academy building, and Amherst College faculty changes. |
