Abstract | A transcription of Emily Dickinson's poem "God is a distant, stately lover." Most transcriptions are in Todd’s own hand; some are typed, and some were transcribed by other individuals. Editor's marks, notes, and alternate wording are written on the transcript in pencil. An Amherst College Observatory stamp, with the date "NOV 1 1890" in the center, is stamped in blue ink at the bottom of the page and crossed out in pencil. |
Notes | The item is undated. The date range is based on the year Emily Dickinson died and the year the final volume of Dickinson's poems and letters that Mabel Loomis Todd edited was published. |
