Abstract | Photographs of the Malik El-Shabazz Memorial Weekend commemorating the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Malcom X. Included are photographs of Julius Lester and Alvin Poussaint speaking to an audience in the Cole Assembly Room of Converse Hall, the Sam Rivers Trio performance and a poetry reading in Buckley Recital Hall, attendees registering for the weekend, and a poster for the event. The Straight Ahead Executive Committee was responsible for organizing the weekend, which focused on "Revolution and Social Change in America: 60s to 70s." These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). Bob Kingman was the College Photographer from January 1975-May 1978. |
