Abstract | Unpublished manuscript consisting primarily (p. 27-225) of the author's diary entries from May 1877 to May 1878, while he and his family were conducting missionary work in Erzroom (Erzurum), Turkey. Includes details on providing medical and famine relief during the Russian seige of Erzurum. Balance of material summarizes episodes from their life in Bitlis, circa 1880s and 1890s, including a section re-written from Mrs. Cole's diary on the massacre in Bitlis of Oct. 25, 1895. Some photographs referred to in the text (e.g. p. 274) are not included, and are possibly held in the Cole archival collection at the Zoryan Institute. |
