Abstract
An undated letter to Henry J. Gardner, Governor of Massachusetts, in which Edward Hitchcock discusses his progress on a geological survey of Massachusetts. Hitchcock primarily mentions his work dealing with the sandstone of the Connecticut River Valley and the fossil footmarks found there. He explains his slow progress and other projects. The letter has been determined to have been written circa 1855.
