Abstract
Sermon notes by Edward Hitchcock for a sermon delivered at Amherst College in October 1837. Hitchcock claims that the college has been abandoned by God because the people are not ready to receive his mercy and grace. He asks when the community will seek God, followed by a list of situations that will lead to seeking God. However, he warns that it will be too late by then and that there is no promise that God will still be willing to offer his mercy at that point. Hosea 5:15 is quoted.
