Abstract
A sermon by Edward Hitchcock discussing a proclamation from Marcus Morton, the Lieutenant Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, appointing April 7, 1825, as a day of "Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer." Hitchcock lists each of the prayers included in the proclamation and provides a summary of what they mean and why Christians should wish to pray for such things. Hitchcock has noted on the first page that the sermon was delivered in Conway on Fast Day, April 1825.
