Abstract | Sermon notes by Edward Hitchcock for a sermon delivered at Amherst College on May 24, 1855, on the religious symbolism of the season of spring, especially in relation to the doctrine of resurrection. Hitchcock references Song of Solomon 2:11-13 as a beautiful description of spring, but focuses more on 1 Corinthians 15:35-42 as Paul’s illustration of how to understand the resurrection of the dead. Hitchcock has written related hymns on the last page. |
