Abstract | An undated letter to Henry J. Gardner, Governor of Massachusetts, in which Edward Hitchcock discusses his progress on a geological survey of Massachusetts. Hitchcock explains that he has completed two reports for the Smithsonian Institution since he had agreed to do geological research for them prior to agreeing to do research for the state of Massachusetts. Hitchcock offers to send copies of the reports to Governor Gardner. The letter has been determined to have been written circa 1855. |
